The Contractor Website Checklist: What to Put on Every Page
A contractor’s website has one job: make a stranger comfortable enough to pick up the phone. That doesn’t take dozens of pages or fancy effects. It takes the right things in the right places. Here’s a page-by-page checklist you can use to see what your site has, and what it’s missing.
Your homepage
- What you do and where: one clear sentence at the top, like “Licensed electrician serving Lenoir and Caldwell County.”
- A tap-to-call phone number: visible without scrolling, on every screen size.
- One obvious next step: a button to call, request a quote, or book.
- Proof: a few real reviews and photos of finished work.
Your services page(s)
List each service you offer with a short, plain-language description of what’s included and who it’s for. If a service brings in a lot of your business, give it its own page. Mention the towns you serve so both customers and Google know where you work.
Your gallery or portfolio
Real photos of real jobs, ideally before and after, do more selling than any paragraph. Skip the stock images of smiling strangers in hard hats. We dug into this in our post on portfolios that win jobs.
Your about page
People hire people. Share who you are, how long you’ve been working in the area, and what you stand for. Include your license and insurance details if you have them, since trust is the whole game in the trades.
Your contact page
- Phone, email, and service area all in one place.
- A short form that asks only for what you need: name, phone, and what they need done.
- Your hours, plus how quickly you respond.
